|Summer Fayre a Success!
28th August 2013
Thank you to everybody who attended our Summer Fayre at the Stanningley site a couple of weekends ago. Everyone had a brilliant time and plenty of funds were raised for Candlelighters. It was a very busy day and not even the rain stopped people coming down and saying hello. We even had a visit from Peppa Pig!
We raised £425.12 and Little Pip was invited down to the LGI to present the cheque, Matthew & Demi were on hand to graciously accept.
|Introducing our new Children's Uniform!
1st February 2013
|One of the major talking points at our last Parent’s Forum was for us to introduce a uniform for the children. Either as a method of preparing them for further education, or simply for the convenience of knowing what to wear each day.
The uniform is entirely optional, you can purchase as much of it as you like, or none of it at all.
Whatever best suits you.
Modelled beautifully here by Sally (who’s just left our Stanningley setting for Big School), we have a choice of:
For more information on uniform please contact Head Office.
|Home Town Hero!
16th November 2012
|The children at the Stanningley Nursery were flabbergasted today when they received a surprise visit from a local hero... the one and only Pudsey Bear!
The iconic mascot of the BBC's Children in Need campaign is named after the very town he was visiting, as his creator's Grandfather was once Mayor of Pudsey!
The children had a singsong with Pudsey and told him all about the money they were raising for Children less fortunate than themselves. Pudsey didn't say a lot, but you could tell he was impressed!
It's not just our LS28 Nurseries who are getting in on the fundraising. Children from all four sites have been raising money all week for the brilliant cause and today we've enjoy Pyjama Parties, a Superhero day, guessing the weight of cakes, and plenty of Buns being sold!
**UPDATED 21st December 2012**
The money is in and counted and we're delighted to announce across the 4 sites we've raised an amazing £798.85.
Thank you to everyone who donated.
|A Royal Reply!
18th July '12
|We were absolutely delighted today when with all the usual post was a very posh looking letter addressed:
"To all the Children at Little People Nursery"
To our delight it was from the Country's most famous residence, Buckingham Palace.
Her Majesty The Queen's Lady-in-Waiting had taken the time to write to the children to thank them for the card and message which they'd sent congratulating her on her Diamond Jubilee. The children were also sent a commemorative card displaying photos of our Queen which is now on display in the hall of the Farfield site.

|Children in Need!
Fri 18th Nov '11
|Well done to all the team from all 4 settings who have raised over £500 for Children in Need. Each Nursery had various sponsored events, bun sales and fancy dress days. Thank you to all the parents for their generosity!
We were invited to attend for filming of BBC's Look North as Children in Need, and its famous mascot Pudsey Bear, “came home” to Pudsey. Marguerite decided to get into the spirit by dressing as a polar bear. The staff team wore pyjamas and the person hiding inside Little Pip is Samantha from the finance office! Fun was had by all!
|Welcome Little People Alwoodley!

|Bramley's Pirate Day!
Tues 9th Aug '11
|"Shiver me timbers" and "Aye! Aye! Captain!" Were the cries to be heard from the children at the Bramley Nursery as they enjoyed a fun packed Pirate Day!|
|Rodley Nature Reserve!
Fri 1st Jun '11
|Children at Farsley Farfield Funclub this week enjoyed a trip to Rodley Nature Reserve. Fun was had by all despite the weather! Children enjoyed pond dipping for Tadpoles… lovely weather for frogs!|
|Red Nose Day Madness!
Mon 20th Mar '11
|Children and staff at the nursery got into the Red Nose spirit on Friday 18th March 2011 in aid of Comic Relief.
Stanningley staff and children had an inside out and back to front day and raised some laughs in their funny outfits. Parents were tempted by sticky red buns that the children had made throughout the day.
At the Bramley Nursery the children in School Room did a sponsored treasure hunt all week. Everyone dressed up as pirates on Friday and enjoyed swashbuckling sandwiches and Buccaneer Banana bread!!! yum, yum!
Children at Farfield all wore clothes inside out and each room has a special theme. The children in Schoolroom tasted different kinds of red food all week, which was a lot of fun!
We are still collecting the remainder of donations as sponsorship money is returned and counted up! We're looking forward to letting you know our Grand Total immanently!
|Farsley Christmas Lights Switch On!
Wed 6th Oct '10
|Once again this year, we will be taking part in the parade before the official switch on of Farsley’s Christmas Lights.
We have managed to secure a rather large float, and need lots of children & parents to ride on our “North Pole” themed wonderland! If you’re interested in being on the float please speak to your Nursery Manager.
We’re also asking parents to “Decorate a Brolly” for the parade and there will be a prize for the best with the winner chosen by our very own Nursery mascot Little Pip!
|Exciting Times for Funclub!
Wed 6th Oct '10
|We are very excited to be currently refurbishing the old nursery building for our New Funclub. Located at the top of the path on the way to the Junior entrance, the new building is much more spacious so we will benefit from more room. The difference in the layout will have many advantages for our children and staff team, some of these are:
|Little People's BIG Toddle!
Tues 20th Jul '10
|On Saturday 17th July Parents, Staff and Children of the 3 nurseries gathered in Hainsworth Park, Farsley to take part in the Big Toddle in aid of Barnardo’s.
The nursery mascot, Little Pip, joined the team as they toddled around the park, brollies and all! Unfortunately the wet weather meant that we couldn’t enjoy our picnics after the Toddle and we all went home to dry off.
Many thanks to those parents and children who braved the rain to support us in raising funds for this worthwhile cause – the total amount raised will be on the Parents newsletter once all sponsor money has been handed in.
Mon 19th Jul '10
|A huge congratulations to our Bramley Deputy Manager, Becky, who has recently graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a Foundation Degree in Young Children’s Learning and Development.
The Graduation Ceremony was held at the Beckett Park Campus in Headingley. There was an unusual start to the proceedings as the ceremony was set to be held in the lovely grounds, but the marquee roof blew off! After a bit of a delay the awards ceremony was relocated indoors and the Graduates finished their celebrations with a Champagne Reception.
Well done Becky, you’ve worked hard and we’re proud of you!!!
|New Building a Huge Success!
Wed 15th Jul '10
|So it's been one whole month since the children of Farfield upped sticks and moved to their brand new building, and what a success it's been! Everyone has settled in fantastically well and we've had some wonderful comments & feedback from parents.
The official opening ran without a hitch, and we were delighted to welcome our very own former "Little People" and stars of stage & screen, Jack & Sophie Downham, along with Councillor Andrew Carter to cut the ribbon. Keep an eye on the LPTV page as highlights will be appearing soon!
On behalf of everyone at Little People, we would like to thank our parents for their patience, understanding and support during the transition, we couldn't have done it without you. We hope you're enjoying the new building as much as we!
|New Farfield Building Update!
Mon 24th May '10
|By now many of you will have had the chance to call in and see the new building. The staff team are excited to start planning for furniture and equipment and their new rooms.
If you have not yet seen inside the building please speak to a member of staff and they will arrange to either take you down themselves, or arrange for Katie or Nicola to show you around.
PLEASE NOTE: The outside of the building is as yet unfinished and still classified as a building site – please do not enter this area, or open any doors or windows from inside the building as there may be people working behind them!
The brickwork is due to be completed this week. On Tuesday/Wednesday we will be seeing the diggers arrive as they get the children’s play area ready. Once the brickwork is complete we will then be seeing the completion of the pram porch and the decking slopes from Toddlers and Tweenies to the outdoor play area.
We have now had the appropriate consents from Ofsted, Environmental Health and Fire & Safety with the intention for the children to move into the building on;
It is envisaged that the children will be able to visit their new rooms, with their key person, the week before we move in. If you have any concerns regarding the transition for your child please speak to your key person, Katie or Nicola.
Many thanks for your patience, and we hope you are as excited as we are about the new premises!
|New Date & Venue for Big Toddle!
Fri 14th May '10
|Once again this year, Little People will be taking part in Barnardo’s Big Toddle and we’d love for you to join us!
We had originally scheduled the event for Sunday 18th July at Pudsey Park but have rescheduled & relocated the 0.5 mile Charity Toddle to coincide with the increasingly popular Farsley Festival on Saturday 17th July '10 at Hainsworth Park in Farsley.
The festival is now in it’s 5th year and this year promises to be bigger & better with lots of activities for the whole family, and all for free!
As regular “Toddlers” will know, we usually stay and enjoy a post-toddle picnic, so this year we’ll have all the fun of the festival instead!
Sponsorship forms will be available nearer the time, and please feel free to bring along friends & family!
New Date: Saturday 17th July '10
|Race for Life!
Tues 4th May '10
|On Sunday 13th June 2010 representatives from our staff team will be taking part in the Race for Life at Bradford, Lister Park.
Staff from each site will be taking part, including our Nursery Managers who will be very grateful if you wish to sponsor us!
If you feel like putting on your running shoes and join the girls for the 5km run, please speak to your Nursery Manager for details on how to register and help us raise funds in aid of Cancer Research UK.
|Finishing Date Looming!
Fri 23rd Apr '10
|As I'm sure you can see on site, the new building is coming along nicely (although not quite as quickly as we’d have hoped!). It is almost ready for us and many of the staff team have been able to have a peek inside and are very excited by the new facilities!
The grounds outside will take a little longer than the internal works, but it is expected that the internal work will be complete in a couple of weeks, they are currently finishing off the lighting and flooring and fitting the kitchen. When the internal work is complete we should be able to negotiate some time with the builders to allow our staff team inside to start preparing their rooms.
The ‘Big Move’ will happen once internal and external works are finished and the builders have removed their facilities. Please feel free to speak to your child’s Key Practitioners to discuss the transition and how this may affect your child. We are hopeful that disruption will be kept to a minimum as your child will still have their familiar carers and familiar toys and equipment.
Sorry for being vague with dates, we are in the hands of the builders I’m afraid. When we have an Open Day date we will let you know!
Many thanks for your patience!
|Lights! Camera! Action!
Thurs 4th Mar '10
|Filming for 'Little People TV' started today, with a brief interview with Marguerite, and the first shots being captured for our forthcoming virtual tours! Keep an eye on this website for LPTV's first episode, we're hoping for it to be online by the middle of March!|
|New Building for Farfield!
Fri 26th Feb '10
|We are very excited to be currently building a new nursery on our Farfield site, with an expected completion of 9th April 2010. When the Nursery was originally built back in 2000, we were very limited with the patch of land that we had to work with. The new piece of land, at the school entrance, is not only more accessible to parents, but also much more spacious so we will benefit from more room indoors and out.
The new building will incorporate all of the wonderful things that our existing nursery does, such as staff team, homely atmosphere, welcoming bright rooms, and our caring ethos and atmosphere but we're adding a few extra special things too:-
We will be having a "Grand Opening" of the new building sometime in April (subject to an on-time completion!) and parents are more than welcome to come along and have a look. Keep checking this website for an exact date nearer the time!
Wed 10th Feb '10
|Our website is currently undergoing quite a drastic redevelopment, during the next few weeks you may find it not looking at it's best, or there may be information incomplete or missing. If you're struggling to find anything, please do not hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Thank you for your patience! !
